Terms of use

These terms govern your use of weather-canada.com, published by Meteo-suisse, Genève, Switzerland. By using the site, you accept them.

An information site

weather-canada.com provides weather information for general information only. Forecasts are computed by numerical weather models (ICON, GFS, ECMWF IFS) and supplied by Open-Meteo; the 1991–2020 climate normals come from the ERA5 reanalysis of Europe's Copernicus programme. The warnings shown are issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada and republished under its Data Services End-use Licence, with their official text, level and times unaltered and matched to each place by its location inside the warned area. Information statements without a colour level are not shown; Environment Canada's own alerts prevail. weather-canada.com is not an official weather service and issues no forecast or warning of its own.

No guarantee

A forecast is an estimate: it can be wrong, especially beyond a few days, and the site may be temporarily unavailable or show delayed data. The information is provided as is, with no guarantee of accuracy, completeness or availability; to the extent permitted by law, the publisher accepts no liability for decisions based on it alone. For any decision that affects your safety, always follow the official warnings of Environment Canada, which take precedence — never weather-canada.com.

Intellectual property and data licences

The site's text, layout and code belong to the publisher; any substantial reproduction requires prior permission, while a short quotation with a link to the original page is welcome. Third-party data remains the property of its owners and is used under its licences: forecasts: Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0); climate normals: ERA5 reanalysis from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), via Open-Meteo; Data Source: Environment and Climate Change Canada, under the Data Services End-use Licence. Warnings are shown unaltered; this site is not endorsed by Environment and Climate Change Canada.; towns, coordinates and elevations: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0); radar: base map © OpenStreetMap contributors, images RainViewer, satellite imagery NASA GIBS; map outlines: Natural Earth (public domain).

Advertising

The site is funded by advertising, served by Google AdSense and always kept separate from the content: an ad never replaces a forecast or a warning. Advertising cookies and how your consent is collected are described in the privacy policy.

External links

The site links to third-party sites, including official weather services and data sources. The publisher has no control over their content and is not responsible for it; a link is not an endorsement.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be changed at any time, for example as the site evolves. The version published on this page, with its last-updated date, is the one that applies.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by Swiss law; the publisher is based in Genève. Mandatory rules that protect you in your country of residence still apply.
